No Bells, But Plenty Of Gordons

You know I mention Mrs P a fair bit? Well, it's always been kinda in the 'common law' sense. See, although having first met in the last millennium, we never got round to that weddingy stuff ... until now.

So don't expect anything from this site today as I shall mostly be getting married.

At 3:30pm to be precise, in a picturesque golf club setting. OK, it's a secular affair, but I've discussed it with my official theologian and been given his blessing - in fact, a cryptic reference appeared in his article yesterday.

Looking down the guest list, I reckon the venue is going to enjoy a bar takings bonanza later, and my celebratory cigar is already tucked safely into the suit top pocket in readiness. No righteous-friendly occasion, this.

I'm just off for a decadent barber's shave with hot and cold towels in preparation, then I shall look at my online bank account and cry a little bit, before me and the boy tog up all posh, like.

Wish me luck.

Congrats and all the best!. Given the historical precedents, it seems unlikely that she can make an honest man out of you, but the thought is obviously there...

Hope you have a lovely day and are still sober enough to carry Mrs P over the threshold etc.

Many congratulations Mr. P.

You do realise though that as from today, sex will become a solitary past-time.

Congratulations mate.

I always enjoy seeing someone else on the journey to pain and suffering :-)

As soon as the ring of denial is on her finger, your name will change to one of the following:
1. Get off.
2. Why does it have to always be about that.
3. Get that thing out of my back.
4. I'm too tired.
5. I've just washed my hair.
6. My back hurts.
7. I have a headache.
8. I've changed the sheets.
9. Can't we just have a nice cuddle.
10. I'm on the blob.
11. You had it last week.

and there are a few others....

Shame about the non-smoing venues law buggering up the business with that cigar, but don't let it spoil your day. Best wishes to you and the now official Mrs P.

Congratz Dick.

We hope that it a 'traditional' brit weeding with all the trimmings..., the drunk uncle who 'worries' the bridesmaids,a fat alcoholic playing a fake Hammond and belting out 'Brimful of Asha' and a photographer whose only qualification is the fact he once posted on a forum where the mod once met David Bailey.

One must have a sense of occasion about these things.

Congratulations Mr P. At least you didn't wait as long as I did. My (now) wife and I lived together for 25 years before we tied the knot, and then it was only because my son announced he was about to be a father. Poor kid couldn't really have a grandad living in sin could he?

If it is good it just gets better, whether married or not.
Still, mine keeps saying, the pensions are going to be a mess if
we don't legalize our union some-time soon!

I read your blog every day Dick,
but I am (until now) a lurker.
this is my first post.

Every happyness for the future

It is a happy and gay event, to have a wedding.

Oh wait, does that make it a gay wedding then ;)

And so it does, in the old fashioned sense of the word.

So have a gay old time, happy wedding and congratulations!

Thanks so much for all the congrats and good wishes. We had a great day, although exhausting, and it went far too quickly!

I surprised you've got time (and permission) to reply!

Congratulations anyway, although you realise you're making it more difficult for those of us still holding out with unmarried partners...

J Bonington Jagworth said...

BTW, as there is a slightly alcoholic theme to your OP, may I suggest an alternative to your 'good cheap red' recommendation a while ago? You stated, correctly IMHO, that Lidl's £3.49 Valdepenas was OK, but a couple of weeks ago, feeling slightly more flush than usual, I invested the extra 50p on their 'Vespral' Terra Alta, which I think you'd enjoy. We certainly do, anyway.

A bit late for your bash, I'm afraid, but I expect you were serving the over-priced lemonade that people seem to set so much store by. OK for weddings, I suppose...

Was a privilege to be part of your big day - it was fabulous (and the weather held out beautifully for all us smoker types)

Thank you again to you and Mrs P for letting me be part of it all :-)

Have to say that the 'specsavers' comment during one of the little P's speech will keep me laughing for a long time ;-)

My dear chap, congratulations and felicitations.

Rejoice!

We won the Test. Not just that, you became married.

We'll miss you during your honeymoon but we smokers will go ahead and loot Comet for a nice wedding present.

John Pickworth said...

Wow! I didn't see this coming :-)

I don't suppose you're about to be elevated to high office by any chance? Just wondered because - like En Milliwhatsit and Gordon 'that bigotted woman' Brown - it seems to be the thing now to bang in a quick trip down the aisle before the News of the World (press 6 to listen to someone else's messages) digs up the existence of the drugs/rentboy/conviction (tick those applicable).

Seriously though, congratulations!!
